This section goes over different types of Proxy accounts available in the Polkadot Ecosystem

Proxied Accounts (Delegated Authorities)

Proxies are useful because they allow you to delegate another account to carry out specific actions on behalf of your primary account.

The most common use case for proxy accounts is assigning a hot wallet as the staking proxy for your cold storage wallet. This allows you to utilize the hot wallet to carry out staking operations on behalf of your cold storage wallet such as changing your nominated validators.

Pure Proxies

Pure Proxies are different from regular proxy accounts. With a regular proxy account, you are delegating authority for some types of transactions from your primary account to a secondary (proxy) account. Pure Proxies on the other hand are accounts that are created (not assigned) by the primary account. That primary account then acts as an Any Proxy on behalf of the Pure Proxy.

Pure Proxies are keyless non-deterministic accounts as they do not have a private key but they have an address that is randomly generated.
